A Lifelong Cat Connection
Forty-five years ago, when Dr. Mary E. Bates Founders Society members Anne and Tom Rackerby first met, they quickly discovered their shared love of cats. As a child, Anne had brought home stray cats that her parents never let her keep, and when Tom was young, his family owned a peach ranch in California where 26 semi-feral barn cats cleared rats from the peach orchards.
